Bowling Green homicides spark vigils at women s centers

BOWLING GREEN In response to the March 29 killings of a Bowling Green woman and her friend, the Eberly Center for Women at the University of Toledo and the Women s Center at Bowling Green State University are sponsoring a candlelight vigil for the victims.

The event, planned as a community response to the homicides, will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. tomorrow at the Wood County Courthouse. Guests are encouraged to take signs, candles, and other symbols of their grief and outrage over the killings, which allegedly were the culmination of an abusive relationship.

Alicia Castillon, 30, and John C. Mitchell, 22, were shot to death about 3 a.m. inside Castillon s home here. Castillon s former boyfriend, Craig Daniels, Jr., 34, has been charged with two counts of aggravated murder and one count of aggravated burglary stemming from the slayings. He was arrested April 2 in Stark County, Ohio.
