West Bancroft man shot in neck during argument

A 22-year-old Toledo man was hospitalized yesterday after he was shot in the neck in West Toledo by another man, Toledo police said.

Lawrence Carter, of 1711 West Bancroft St., No. 7, was taken to Toledo Hospital, but a hospital spokesman said he had no report on Mr. Carter.

Police said they responded to the hospital about 5:45 a.m. on a gunshot victim call. A woman told police a group of people, which included her and Mr. Carter, left a bar and went to his residence. An argument broke out between the woman and Mr. Carter, and a man was called to the apartment by another person in group, police said.

The man entered the apartment with a handgun, but the woman claimed the weapon went off accidentally.
