Overall crime decreases by 4.5 percent in Toledo during one-year period
4/12/2007There were fewer violent crimes and property offenses in Toledo last year than in 2005, according to statistics released this morning by city leaders.
Overall reported crime dropped 4.5 percent from 27,776 offenses in 2005 to 26,534 last year, according to the numbers, which are reported to the FBI for its annual Uniform Crime Report.
A rash of homicides in September helped hike the murder total from 28 in 2005 to 35 last year. But reported rapes, robberies, and assaults dropped dipping the overall number of crimes against persons by 7.1 percent compared to 2005.
Burglaries, larcenies, auto thefts, and arsons fell by 4.1 percent last year compared to the year before, according to the city totals.
