A University of Toledo football player will be arraigned in Toledo Municipal Court tomorrow on charges of attempted aggravated burglary after police said he walked into the wrong house to settle a dispute with a teammate.

The house belonged to a sheriff s deputy.

Richard Davis, a 21-year-old sophomore running back from Warren, Ohio, also had at least two firearms with him when he showed up at the deputy s central-city house about 4:30 this morning, police said.

After receiving a call to assist an officer, crews from the nearby Scott Park police station arrived at the deputy s house and found Mr. Davis on the ground. Deputy Vincent Scott was holding him at gunpoint, police said.

The deputy said he found the shotgun leaning against his house. A handgun was found in Mr. Davis s vehicle, police said. Mr. Davis said he brought the weapons to scare the teammate, not to use them.

Deputy Scott said he d been awakened by repeated ringing of his doorbell and by someone trying to open his door. Mr. Davis remains in custody at the Lucas County jail.
