Man being sought as burglary suspect

Warrants were issued yesterday for a second man who led Sylvania Township police on a high-speed chase after he and two other men were suspected in a burglary in Fulton County.

Rodney Polansky, 22, of Toledo was charged in Sylvania Municipal Court with two counts of receiving stolen property and one count of failure to comply, Lucas County sheriff's Detective Mark Woodruff said.

Mr. Polansky was not in custody last night.

The detective said Mr. Polansky was the driver and owner of a sport utility vehicle that sped away from authorities during a stop Thursday on Central Avenue east of Centennial Road in Sylvania Township.

A passenger, Shane Lewandowski, 24, of Toledo, was being held in the Lucas County jail in lieu of a $32,500 bond on two counts of receiving stolen property and one count each of obstructing official business and drug abuse. Authorities were looking for a third suspect.

Detective Woodruff said a search of the SUV - which Mr. Polansky reported stolen after the chase - found property taken in residential burglaries Thursday in the 6000 block of Fulton County Road S in Metamora and the 12000 block of Fulton County Road RS in Lyons.

A long rifle with a scope, a shotgun, a PlayStation console and about 50 games, a computer and speakers, a digital camera, a drill, a set of golf clubs in a bag, and a bag containing coins and jewelry were found, he said.

The SUV was found at a motel on East Mall Drive in Springfield Township. The suspects abandoned the vehicle and ran.

Mr. Lewandowski was found under an overpass east of the expressway.
