Clinton police seek information on mill fire

5/5/2007

CLINTON, Mich. - Clinton police are looking for tips through the Crime Stoppers program of Lenawee County about a suspicious fire last month that destroyed the historic Clinton Woolen Mill.

The fire in the four-story brick building on West Michigan Avenue near River Street started about 1:15 a.m. April 16. It took firefighters from 10 departments to get it under control.

The building, which was built in 1866, was demolished the next day for safety concerns.

At the time of the fire, the building had been vacant for a few months, and there was no gas or electric service running to it.

Anyone with information about the cause of the blaze can anonymously call Crime Stoppers at 517-266-6161 and could be eligible for a cash reward.
