2nd teenager indicted in Charleston Bar robbery

The second Toledo teenager accused of robbing a bar near downtown Toledo was indicted yesterday by a Lucas County grand jury on multiple robbery charges.

Alejandro Martinez, 17, of 258 Walbridge Ave., was indicted on five counts of aggravated robbery with a firearm specification and five counts of robbery.

He was held in the county s juvenile detention center until earlier this month, when he was certified to stand trial as an adult.

Mr. Martinez and James Smith, 18, of 624 South Ave., are accused of robbing the Charle ston Bar, 340 Broadway, about 7 a.m. April 28. The robbers came in through the back door, brandished guns, and demanded money from the cash register and from four people, including the barmaid and another woman.

About 15 minutes after the holdup, police chased the suspects about two blocks, arresting them in the 200 block of Segur Avenue.

Mr. Smith was indicted on similar charges May 7.
