Suspected marijuana found in I-75 traffic stop

BOWLING GREEN Wood County sheriff s deputies and Bowling Green police said they found about 80 pounds of suspected marijuana while searching a pickup they stopped on I-75 just north of Bowling Green early yesterday.

Officers stopped two southbound vehicles about 12:20 a.m. and found five packages of suspected marijuana, with a street value of about $96,000, inside one of the vehicles.

Luis Melendez, 35, of Indianapolis; Scott A. Rodriguez, 26, and Jose Antonio Rodriguez, 43, both of McAllen, Texas, and Kyle J. Tolka, 20, of Patoka, Ill., were arrested and charged with trafficking in marijuana. They are being held in the Wood County jail.

Sheriff Mark Wasylyshyn declined to provide details about what prompted the traffic stop, but said it was part of an ongoing investigation.
