Perrysburg seeks tips on burglaries

6/9/2007

Perrysburg police are looking for tips about two residential burglaries in which money, keys, and vehicles were taken.

One burglary occurred yesterday at 1128 Running Brook Lane; the other was June 2 at 26964 Mingo Drive. Both occurred between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m., and the suspects entered by a garage service door or a sliding patio door, both of which were unlocked, police said.

Purses, wallets, keys, and money were taken from the kitchen in both houses, and vehicles were stolen while the occupants slept. A truck taken from the Mingo address was found in Jerusalem Township in Lucas County. A silver 2000 Lincoln Town Car with a personalized Ohio license plate was taken from the Running Brook residence, Chief Richard Gilts said.

He said the suspects may be scouting yards to find unlocked doors. Residents are advised to be alert for strange vehicles in their neighborhoods and unusual or suspicious behavior by pedestrians or drivers. They should lock their doors and not leave windows open.

Anyone with information about the burglaries is asked to call police at 419-872-8001 or Wood County Crime Stoppers at 800-542-7463. Callers may remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward.
