Recreational boater finds man s body in Lake Erie

MONROE The body of a 59-year-old Bellville, Mich., man was found yesterday in Lake Erie, about 11 miles from Monroe, by a recreational boater, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.

Lewis Daniel Styes body was found, but his boating companion remained missing last night, the Monroe County Sheriff s Office said. He and his companion has been missing from a 17-foot power boat that was found capsized Thursday. The name of his companion, who is also from the Wayne County, Michigan, area, was not released last night.

Mr. Styes body was found about 2:30 p.m. with a life jacket on. The capsized boat was found in the shipping lanes about three miles offshore from Detroit Edison Co. s Fermi 2 nuclear plant, authorities said.

The boaters launched from the Wyandotte municipal docks sometime Tuesday night or early Wednesday. Crew members aboard a container ship spotted the boat, Monroe County sheriff s deputies said.
