Blaze destroys home on 145th St.

7/15/2007

A Toledo house was destroyed early yesterday after a fire began in its garage, swept into the home, and began to spread next door.

Firefighters were called to the residence, 3514 145th St., shortly before 3 a.m. As the blaze engulfed the home and began to spread, the call was upgraded to a second alarm, meaning additional fire crews and engines were dispatched, Lt. Angie Magers said.

Crews battled the fire for several hours, then remained at the site through lunchtime yesterday to watch for flare-ups. The remains of the house were to be demolished, she said.

No one was injured, and the cause had not been determined, the lieutenant said.
