A North Toledo man is to be arraigned in Toledo Municipal Court today on a charge that he damaged a police car after being arrested for drug possession.

John Rupley, 25, is charged with vandalism, possession of drugs, and trafficking in drugs. He was held last night in the Lucas County jail in lieu of $10,000 on each charge.

Police responded to a call about a man threatening others with a knife about 1:45 a.m. yesterday. As officers approached a house in the 800 block of Ash Street, the report said, they heard screams and found Rup ley assaulting the two men who lived there.

He was arrested and found to be in possession of suspected crack cocaine, police said. Rupley pounded his head twice on the window of the patrol car, then kicked out its window, and damaged the window s frame, police said.

No charges associated with the alleged assault at the Ash Street residence were filed.
