Perrysburg Township fugitive is arrested in Tennessee

7/24/2007

BOWLING GREEN A former Perrysburg Township man who had been on Wood County s list of most-wanted fugitives was arrested Friday in Tennessee, officials said.

Steven Eyre, 40, was convicted in Wood County Common Pleas Court in 2004 for assault on a peace officer but left town before sentencing. Arrest warrants were issued for him for the case and a subsequent charge of failure to appear.

The U.S. Marshals Service said the Toledo-based Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force determined that Eyre was living in the Cleveland, Tenn., area and contacted the Bradley County Adult Probation Department after learning Eyre had been arrested there for forgery and was on probation. He was arrested by Bradley County sheriff s deputies after being called into the probation office.
