A 22-year-old central Toledo man who police say broke into the home of a disabled woman and then raped her was indicted yesterday on burglary and rape charges.

A Lucas County grand jury indicted Rizharr Holmes on one count of aggravated burglary and two counts of rape. He is accused of breaking into the victim s home near Monroe Street and Collingwood Boulevard through a back window July 13 and raping the woman, who is in her 60s.

The woman managed to press her medical alert button several times, notifying the Toledo Fire Department of an emergency. Police said Holmes fled the home after hearing approaching sirens.

Holmes, who previously was convicted on two counts of breaking and entering and aggravated burglary, was being held in the Lucas County jail.
