A man was shot in the chest and seriously injured early today in the 2600 block of Tremainsville Road in West Toledo, police said.

Lorenzo Brown, 28, 2667 Tremainsville Rd., was taken to Toledo Hospital with at least one gunshot wound to his chest, police officials said. A hospital nursing supervisor said there was no patient there by that name.

Police reported Mr. Brown's injuries appeared to be serious and possibly life threatening.

Officers responding to a call on multiple shots fired found Mr. Brown shortly after 3 a.m. at 2667 Tremainsville at an apartment complex.

The suspected gunman, whose name was not released, was seen walking fast from the location where the incident occurred and ignored repeated orders from officers to stop, police said.

He then tossed what police believe was the gun at an apartment as he passed by. The suspect then jumped on top of a dumpster, over a fence, and ran between two houses, police said.

The suspect hid in bushes in the 5100 block of Trimble Road and refused to show police his left hand, the report stated. Police Tasered the suspect twice and then used knee stuns to subdue him, police said. Police later recovered the gun near the apartment where officers heard the item being thrown.

The suspect was taken into custody and transported to St. Anne Mercy Hospital where he was treated and released.
