Dog killed during Michigan break-in

PETERSBURG, Mich. - A man with a rifle shot and killed a dog Sunday night when he broke into a house in the 5300 block of Stull Road about 1 miles south of this community, the Monroe County Sheriff's Office said.

No people were hurt.

The man entered the residence through a bedroom window shortly before 8:40 p.m., shot one of the dogs at the residence, confronted the homeowner, demanded money and medications, and then fled, sheriff's deputies said. They did not say whether he fled with any money or medications.

Two suspects in the incident were later arrested, deputies said. The names of the arrested had not been released as of Monday morning.

The incident remains under investigation.

Petersburg is about 15 miles northwest of Toledo.
