Four people tentatively identified as a woman, two girls, and a boy were killed on Wednesday night when fire swept through a two-story house in West Toledo, authorities said.

A man who lives at the house was taken to a hospital.

The names of the dead were not immediately available.

The blaze was reported about 10 p.m. at 4046 Lyman Ave., between Sylvania Avenue and Royalton Road on Toledo's west side.

Fire dispatchers said a man reporting the blaze told them there were children in the house. The caller also could be heard yelling for people to get out of the structure.

When firefighters arrived a short time later, they found the house fully engulfed in flames.

By that time, the man had fled the house screaming, "My children! My children! You ve got to get my children!"

Shortly after that, as one group of firefighters battled the raging flames, others reported finding the bodies.

The woman s body was found on the first floor and the bodies of the three children, ranging from 4 to 11 years old, were found huddled together in an upstairs hallway, authorities said.
