North Toledo man sought in assault of pregnant girlfriend

12/19/2007

An arrest warrant was issued yesterday for a North Toledo man accused of breaking into his pregnant girlfriend's apartment, beating her, and trying to drown her in a bathtub, police said.

Jeremiah Reid, 20, of 1019 Moore St., was charged with felonious assault and aggravated burglary, police said.

If convicted on both charges, Reid faces a maximum sentence of life in prison.

Treeva Lampkin, 23, of 2908 Chestnut St., was taken to St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center with a deep forehead laceration. A nursing supervisor said yesterday she had no information on a patient by that name.

Ms. Lampkin told police her boyfriend forced his way into her apartment about 12:20 a.m. by kicking in the door.

Reid broke an ashtray over Ms. Lampkin's head and hit and kicked her several times, police said.

He then dragged Ms. Lampkin to the bathroom and forced her head into the bathtub while the water was running, police said.

Ms. Lampkin said she ran to a neighbor's house at 426 Dexter St., where she called police.
