FOSTORIA Firefighters from seven departments worked last night to contain a blaze downtown that burned out of control for hours.
The fire was reported about 6:30 p.m. in a building at the northeast corner of Main and Tiffin streets. By 8:15 p.m., flames were still visible on the upper floors of the three-story building, and fire crews were ordered out, authorities said.
Firefighters were still there by 9:30, pouring water on the building to keep fire from spreading.
The first floor houses a coffee shop, a jewelry store, and a clothing store, with apartments above. There were no reports of any injuries.
At least six neighboring departments helped, including those from Tiffin; Findlay; Bascom, Ohio; Risingsun, Ohio, and Hancock County s Washington Township.
Fostoria is divided among Wood, Hancock, and Seneca counties. The fire was in the city s Seneca County section.
