Three Toledo fast-food restaurants and a video store were robbed in a span of about two hours Wednesday, each by a man with a handgun, police said.

The first robbery occurred about 8:50 p.m. at Jimmy John's Gourmet Sandwich Shop, 3022 Glendale Ave. in South Toledo, when a man pointed a silver handgun at a female employee and demanded she take him to the safe, police said.

She opened the safe and put money in a black plastic bag. She then was ordered to empty the cash registers into the bag.

The suspect was described as black, about 6 feet, 1 inch tall, and weighing about 180 pounds.

About 45 minutes later, a masked man with a black handgun robbed the Subway restaurant at 4608 Talmadge Rd. in West Toledo, police said.

An employee ran to the back of the restaurant and told another employee about the gunman. They called police and stayed at the back of the restaurant until police arrived.

The suspect was described as black, 18 to 20 years old, and about 5 feet, 9 inches tall.

Five minutes later, a man entered the Wendy's at 5166 Airport Hwy. and placed an order. The suspect paid, but when an employee opened the register, he demanded money, police said.

The man then reached over the counter, grabbed about $60, and fled. The employee told police the suspect had what appeared to be a handgun in the sleeve of his coat.

He was described as white, 25 years old, about 6 feet, 2 inches tall, and weighing about 180 pounds. He had a mustache and beard.

Family Video, 4020 Jackman Rd., was robbed about 10:10 p.m. by a man who told an employee he had a gun but didn't want to make a scene, police said.

The employee held out the cash drawer, and the man took about $60 before fleeing, police said. He was described as black, about 5 feet, 11 inches tall, and weighing 200 pounds.
