Police yesterday identified a South Toledo man shot in the stomach Wednesday in his home after two masked men entered and demanded cash.

Howard Henderson, Jr., 44, of 106 South Detroit Ave. was taken to the University of Toledo Medical Center, formerly the Medical College of Ohio Hospital. Police said his injuries were not life-threatening. A nursing supervisor said yesterday she had no information on a patient by that name.

Mr. Henderson was watching a movie in his bedroom about 7 p.m. when he heard someone open the door and demand money.

The victim grabbed a plastic chair and struck one of the suspects, who then shot him in the stomach, police said.

The gunman ran down the stairs, but returned and again demanded cash. Mr. Henderson gave the suspect about $340.

Both suspects then fled, police said.
