Teen suspect arrested in Lambertville arson fires

LAMBERTVILLE A 17-year-old arson suspect was arrested early Sunday morning after allegedly confessing to starting two house fires in the last week and another three fires in 2006.

Monroe County Sheriff detectives who arrested the male suspect about 12:20 a.m. did not release his name, but said in a press release that he confessed to starting recent fires at 2070 Fountain Circle and 6741 Brentridge Lane, which are both new homes under construction in Lambertville.

A detective chased down the suspect and arrested him after the teen tried to syphon gasoline from the detective s undercover police car.

Deputies did not return phone calls for further comment.

The same officers involved in the arson investigation also arrested two juveniles allegedly involved in a break-in that occurred about 3:15 a.m. at the Tony s Country Store on Secor Road near Dean Road in Bedford Township. A third suspect in that break-in fled the scene.
