    Two people were charged Tuesday in the 2005 murder of a 74-year-old man in the city s north end, police said.

    Rodney Bunce, 50, of 1225 East Broadway St., and Jerry Hinds, 44, who is currently incarcerated in a Florida prison, were each charged with aggravated murder in the death of Jessie Coleman of 632 Buffalo St., police said.

    Bunce is being held in the Lucas County jail without bond. Hinds is being held at the Hendry Correctional Institution in Immokalee, Fla.

    The two men are accused of robbing Mr. Coleman and then beating him with a hammer-like object, said Sgt. Steve Forrester, of the cold case unit.

    Their motive is believed to be robbery, he said.

    Mr. Coleman was found dead in his apartment by his daughter who couldn t reach him by telephone.

    He died of sharp-force injury to his neck, which severed blood vessels on the right side of his neck. Mr. Coleman also suffered blunt-force injury to his scalp, according to the Lucas County Coroner s Office.
