A Toledo woman was attacked Sunday by a 15-year-old boy after he shoved his way into her sport utility vehicle in the parking lot of the Navy Bistro restaurant and tried to steal her keys, police said.

Heather Bower, 37, was walking to her SUV about 5 p.m. when she saw a boy walk behind her car. She tried to get into her vehicle and quickly shut the door, but the boy stuck his hand in the door and pulled it open, police said.

Once inside, the suspect pushed Ms. Bower over the center console and demanded her keys. He then punched her several times and again demanded her keys, police said.

Ms. Bower began punching and scratching the teenager as he held onto her keys. The boy pried the keys away from Ms. Bower and in doing so set off the alarm. Ms. Bower then yelled for help and the suspect fled with the keys, police said.

The boy ran across the parking lot toward Oak Street and Starr Avenue, dropped the keys, and then ran into an abandoned house at 448 Potter St., where he was arrested, police said.

The teenager was charged with delinquency in connection with robbery and taken to the Lucas County Juvenile Justice Center, police said.
