Warrant issued in West Toledo shooting case

4/20/2008

A West Toledo man is suspected of shooting at an acquaintance who was in his driveway from inside his Douglas Road home early yesterday, police said.

An arrest warrant was issued for Donald Hamblin, 29, of 3730 Douglas Rd., on a felonious assault charge.

About 4:10 a.m. the suspect shot a gun at Robert Johnson, 32, of Temperance who was not hurt, police said.

Police believe the suspect had a dispute with the victim over money, Sgt. Bill Wauford said.

Police and SWAT officers spent more than five hours surrounding the home in what was thought to be a stand-off with the suspect. However, authorities discovered about 10 a.m. after obtaining a search warrant to enter the home that the suspect was not inside.
