A woman was mauled Monday morning by two pit bulls in her own home, according to Lucas County Dog Warden Tom Skeldon.

Mr. Skeldon said two pit bulls gave Dorothy Markle, of 1612 Raynor Road, "severe wounds" to her legs at about 10:30 a.m. She was taken to Flower Hospital. The hospital did not have any information about her condition.

Mr. Skeldon said David Fyffe, another resident of the house, agreed to give up the dogs, in order to keep from being cited for housing more than one pit bull. The dogs will be held for ten days and then euthanized, Mr. Skeldon said.

"They re very large pit bulls, covered in blood," Mr. Skeldon said.

The dogs apparently attacked Ms. Markle when she tried to keep them from fighting each other, Mr. Skeldon said.

Mr. Fyffe had been bitten by one of the dogs last year, Mr. Skeldon said.
