Police yesterday continued to investigate robberies at two West Toledo gas stations Monday that occurred about 3 1/2 hours apart.
A car pulled up to a pump at the Shell station, 1002 Alexis Rd., about 5 a.m. Two men entered the store and demanded money. One man reached into the cash drawer, took an undisclosed amount of money, and then went to the back of the store and took a change box and cigarettes. Both men then fled, police said.
The second incident occurred at the Sunoco station, 4458 Monroe St., about 8:35 a.m. when a man walked inside and went behind the counter. An employee, who had been in a back room, confronted the suspect. He assured the woman he wouldn't hurt her if she gave him money. The employee handed the suspect an undisclosed amount of cash. He then ordered her to the back room and fled, police said.
A Toledo police officer spotted the suspect and chased him on foot, but lost sight of him, a report said.
