Suspected marijuana seized in rural home

TIFFIN The Seneca County Drug Task Force confiscated 1,205 suspected marijuana plants from a home in rural Republic.

Detective Charles Boyer, coordinator of the METRICH Enforcement Unit, which includes Tiffin police and the Seneca County Sheriff s Office, said officers with a warrant searched the Adams Township home of Michael D. Newcome, where they found the plants, drug paraphernalia, criminal tools, and firearms Thursday.

Though the plants were in the early stage of maturity, their estimated street value at the time of cultivation was $1.2 million.

Mr. Newcome, 47, was arrested on a warrant from Tiffin Municipal Court.
