MONROE A Frenchtown Township man was arrested on felonious assault charges Sunday after being accused of shooting his North Macomb Street neighbor in the face with a BB gun.

Bruce Wayne Lovett, 35, fired 10 to 15 rounds from a BB gun at Michael Eugene Parks about 2:45 p.m., according to Monroe County authorities, who said they were told the suspect also threatened the victim with a metal baseball bat before firing the weapon at him.

Mr. Parks, 52, underwent surgery to remove a BB pellet from his jaw. He also was treated for a broken tooth, lip, and gum wounds at Mercy Memorial Hospital, authorities said.

Mr. Lovett was taken to the Monroe County jail, where he remained yesterday afternoon.

He told police he was defending himself. He denied having threatened Mr. Parks with the bat.

Mr. Parks wife accused Mr. Lovett of detonating homemade pop bottle bombs around the neighborhood, authorities said.
