Two Toledo men were hurt, one seriously, during an exchange of gunfire yesterday in the Old West End near Islington Street and Parkwood Avenue, which apparently stemmed from an earlier domestic violence incident, police said.

Chris Jones, 35, of 131 East Park St., who was in his truck when he was shot, was treated at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center.

Derek Fisher, 34, of 2554 Lawrence Ave., who was on a bicycle when he was shot, was in serious condition last night in St. Vincent.

An arrest warrant was issued for Fisher, charging him with felonious assault. No charges have been filed against Mr. Jones, according to Toledo Municipal Court records.

The shooting occurred about 2 a.m., about 90 minutes after police responded to a domestic violence call at the Fisher residence involving Fisher and his live-in girlfriend, Dieatra Jones, who is Mr. Jones' sister, a report said.

Fisher is accused of punching Ms. Jones during an argument, which caused injuries that required stitches. The couple has a 7-year-old son, police said.

Mr. Jones told police he was on his way to confront Fisher about the incident when Fisher shot him, a report said.

Police said there were several bullet holes on the driver's side of Mr. Jones' vehicle and also a hole in the windshield.

After the shooting, Mr. Jones drove himself to Cherry and Bancroft streets, where he flagged down workers who were stripping the street. They called 911.

Fisher arrived at the hospital with a gunshot wound to his abdomen minutes after Mr. Jones was admitted, police said.

Additional warrants were issued for Fisher, charging him with misdemeanor domestic violence and assault, court records show.

He will be arrested upon his release from the hospital, police said.
