A 36-year-old man was robbed and shot in the arm in North Toledo Tuesday night when he stopped his car for a stranger who had flagged him down, police said.

The victim, Quentin Banks, had his wife drive him to St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, where he was listed in good condition yesterday, a hospital spokesman said.

Mr. Banks told police that he was driving near the intersection of Frederick and Walnut streets about 10:20 p.m. when a man signaled for him to stop.

Once Mr. Banks stopped the car, the suspect ordered him out of the vehicle at gunpoint and demanded his car keys and jewelry. After the victim complied, the gunman shot him and fled on foot, police said.
