Police were looking for a woman accused of stabbing her child's father in the back early Monday in the parking lot of a Maumee movie theater.

Norman Allen, 23, of Hamilton Street in central Toledo, was taken to the University of Toledo Medical Center, the former Medical College of Ohio Hospital, Maumee police said. A hospital spokesman said he had no information about a person by that name.

Monica Triplett, 20, possibly of 809 Byrneport Dr. in South Toledo, was still at large as of 8:30 a.m. Monday. An arrest warrant for her had been issued, Maumee Detective Sgt. David Tullis said.

The incident occurred about 1:20 a.m. at 1360 Conant St., in the back parking lot of the Showcase Cinemas Maumee.

Ms. Triplett confronted Mr. Allen as he left the theater and was approaching his car in the parking lot, Sergeant Tullis said. She was waiting there after someone phoned her and told her that he was at the movies with another woman, the sergeant said.

An argument between the parents ensued. When Mr. Allen turned away to get in the vehicle, Ms. Triplett stabbed him in the back with a steak knife and fled, the sergeant said.

Mr. Allen was found in the parking lot a short time later and taken to the hospital, police said.
