Police search for suspect in stabbing in Maumee

7/22/2008

Maumee police yesterday sought a woman accused of stabbing her child's father in the back during the wee hours in a movie theater parking lot.

Norman Allen, 23, of Hamilton Street in Toledo, was taken to the University of Toledo Medical Center, the former Medical College of Ohio Hospital, police said. A hospital spokesman said he had no information on a person by that name.

Monica Triplett, 20, whose address was not available, was at large as of yesterday afternoon.

A warrant for her arrest had been issued, Maumee Detective Sgt. David Tullis said.

The incident occurred about 1:20 a.m. at 1360 Conant St., in the back parking lot of the Showcase Cinemas Maumee.

Ms. Triplett confronted Mr. Allen as he was leaving the theater and was approaching his car in the parking lot, Sergeant Tullis said.

She was waiting for him there after she learned he was at the movies with another woman, the sergeant said.

After an argument between the pair, Mr. Allen turned away to get in the vehicle and Ms. Triplett stabbed him in the back with a steak knife and fled, the sergeant said.

Mr. Allen was found in the parking lot a short time later. Police found the knife in a sewer grate in the parking lot, the sergeant said.
