Identities released on father, son killed in Michigan crash
7/30/2008MONROE The identities of a father and son killed in a fatal accident early Tuesday in Whiteford Township were released Wednesday by the Monroe County Sheriff s Office.
Killed in the accident at the intersection of Head-O-Lake Road and Old U.S. 223 were the driver, James J. Dennis, 19, of 2012 Madison Ave., and Scott E. Dennis, 45, of Swanton.
Christopher Caughhorn, 18, of 5600 West Alexis Rd., Apt. 134, was a passenger in the 1996 Ford Mustang. He is being treated for non-life threatening injuries at Toledo Hospital.
Deputies said the southbound car was going at a high rate of speed on Head-O-Lake when James Dennis skidded through the intersection at Old U.S. 223 and struck the embankment at the Conrail tracks, sending the vehicle airborne for about 60 feet and overturning on its top.
The car was reported stolen shortly before the accident from a residence in the 7400 block of Manore Road near Whitehouse.

OTTAWA LAKE - Two Swanton-area men were killed and a third man was hurt seriously yesterday when the driver of a vehicle reported stolen in Ohio crashed at Head-O-Lake Road and Old U.S. 223 in Whiteford Township, about a mile north of the state line, the Monroe County Sheriff's Office said.
The victims, whose names were withheld, were 45 and 19 years old and are believed to be father and son, Deputy Brian Quinn said.
The victims were taken to the Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office for autopsies.
The 19-year-old was driving the car, the deputy said.
An 18-year-old Toledo man, who had been a passenger in the car, was listed in serious condition in Toledo Hospital, the deputy said. His name also was withheld.
The car was southbound on Head-O-Lake about 3:20 a.m. at a high rate of speed and skidded through a stop sign at Old U.S. 223. The car struck the embankment at the Conrail tracks and went airborne for about 60 feet before it overturned and landed on its top in a ditch, Deputy Quinn said.
About two hours after the crash, a person living near Whitehouse reported that their car had been stolen from their residence, authorities said.
