An East Toledo man accused of forcing women into his vehicle at gunpoint and coercing them to perform sexual acts was apprehended yesterday by Toledo police shortly after one of the incidents, authorities said.

Scott Tristan, 22, of 1679 Tracy Rd., was charged with one count of rape, two counts of kidnapping, and one count of attempted kidnapping. He was being held in the Lucas County jail pending arraignment today in Toledo Municipal Court.

The charges stem from three incidents - July 1, July 22, and yesterday - all of which occurred within a quarter-mile of one another on the east side, Sgt. Sam Harris of the police special victims unit said.

All three victims were walking alone when the assailant approached them, he added.

Mr. Tristan was arrested shortly after 8:15 a.m. after an attempt to abduct a woman from the 500 block of Oakdale Street, not far from his home.

The victim ran to a nearby house and began pounding on the door seeking help after Mr. Tristan reached into his pocket and claimed he had a gun, Sergeant Harris said. The victim, after being allowed into the house, called 911.

Meanwhile, a witness obtained Mr. Tristan's license plate number and gave it to authorities. He was arrested and charged with attempted kidnapping after police spotted his car on Florence Street, several blocks from Oakdale.

Mr. Tristan was charged with kidnapping after he was accused of brandishing a handgun about 9 a.m. July 1 in front of a woman waiting for a bus near Oak Street and Navarre Avenue. The victim was forced into Mr. Tristan's vehicle and forced to perform a sex act in a nearby alley, Sergeant Harris said.

Mr. Tristan was charged with kidnapping and rape after he was accused of threatening to kill a woman July 22 while she was walking in the area of East Broadway and Woodville Road going home from a carryout restaurant. The victim was forced at gunpoint into Mr. Tristan's vehicle and taken to an alley off Forsythe Street, where she was forced to perform a sex act, the sergeant said.
