Teamwork by 4 counties in burglary case touted

BOWLING GREEN Sheriffs and prosecutors from four counties said yesterday that by joining forces they cracked a burglary ring stealing home electronics and other items to sell or trade for drugs.

Seven individuals were indicted last week by a Wood County grand jury for break-ins that occurred in Hancock, Henry, Putnam, and Wood counties. Hancock County Prosecutor Mark Miller said that by prosecuting the group in Wood County for engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity for the incidents in all four counties, prosecutors hope to be able to secure longer prison sentences.

Officials said they were aware of at least 22 burglaries in Wood County, 17 in Hancock, two in Putnam, and one in Henry. Nearly all occurred in rural areas close to county lines.
