A gunman fired a shot while being chased by Toledo police after he seriously wounded a 16-year-old, authorities said.

The officers were not hurt. The shooting victim, Tydae Bush of Tecumseh Street, was admitted in serious condition to St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo police said.

Officers responding to a report of a person shot arrived at a Tecumseh residence about 2 a.m. yesterday and found the Bush youth on the ground. He had been shot twice in the back, police said.

A short time later, police saw a suspected gunman in the area of the 700 block of Vance Street, about four blocks from the scene of the shooting.

The gunman fired a shot while being chased by police. They did not say whether he fired at police.

Police later searched the area but failed to locate the gunman, officers said. As of late yesterday, police released no additional information about the case.
