A shotgun and other equipment was stolen from a Toledo Area Metroparks ranger s vehicle, and authorities don t know how it happened.

Ranger James Cassidy discovered Thursday morning that a shotgun, binoculars, digital camera, and blank incident report forms were taken from his locked Metroparks Ford Explorer while it was parked at his home on Georgetown Avenue in West Toledo, police said.

The Remington shotgun was locked in a gun rack, and the ranger told police he had no idea how the thieves got into the vehicle.

Scott Carpenter, a metroparks spokesman, said there were no signs of forced entry. We re very concerned, and interested in how the thieves were able to remove the shotgun from a pretty high-tech gun rack.
