A firefighter was hurt fighting a blaze at an apparently vacant house early Saturday in North Toledo, authorities said.

The firefighter, whose name and condition were not released, was taken to Toledo Hospital, according to the Toledo Fire Department.

Fire crews arrived at 2617 North Erie St. about 4:20 a.m. and saw flames coming out of the two-story wood frame building. Firefighters had the fire under control in about 40 minutes, but not before it had spread throughout the house, they said.

The house, which was built in 1902, was scheduled for demolition later Saturday.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.

The Lucas County auditor s Web site lists the owners of the house as Kenneth and Kimberly Clark.
