A Toledo teen was arrested early Saturday in South Toledo and accused of robbing and shooting a University of Toledo student Sunday near the school s main campus, authorities said.

Desmon Tisdale, 16, of 1023 Broer Ave., was spotted and arrested about 1:30 a.m. in the 800 block of Turner Avenue. He was charged with delinquency in connection with aggravated robbery and felonious assault in the shooting of Evan Smith, 18, of Carter Hall, Toledo police said.

Mr. Smith was released Thursday from Toledo Hospital after treatment, a hospital spokesman said.

Mr. Smith told police he was walking with friends shortly after midnight in the 1000 block of Broer Avenue, a block from campus, when a black male approached him, displayed a silver pistol and demanded money.

Mr. Smith said he handed over his wallet and turned to run but was shot in the right hand and right shoulder.
