Armed gunmen late Wednesday robbed two cab drivers of a total of $53 when the cab drivers were picking up their fares in North Toledo, authorities said.

The incidents were about an hour and a mile from each other; the victims drive for Black & White Cab Co. Toledo police said they believe the robberies were committed by the same people.

The first incident happened about 10:15 p.m. in the 3300 block of Otto Street; the other occurred about 11:15 p.m. in the 1800 block of Booth Avenue.

The cab drivers were waiting for their fares when two or three gunmen showed up and robbed them of their wallets. The gunmen made off with $3 from the first incident and with $50 in the later robbery, officers said.

The victims described the gunmen as black men wearing dark clothes and armed with black, semi-automatic handguns. In both cases, the gunmen fled on foot, police said.
