Rape suspect Vincent Vernell Williams, 30, of 513 Adams St. has been indicted by a Lucas County grand jury on four counts of rape and two counts of kidnapping, Toledo police said Tuesday.

Williams is accused in a series of assaults that terrorized residents of South and East Toledo in November.

The most recent indictments cover incidents that occurred Nov. 5 at 1359 East Broadway and Nov. 14-17 at 2030 Ashland Ave.

Williams, whose residence in the past was given by police as an address on Cherry Street, has previously pleaded not guilty to three counts of rape, four counts of kidnapping, two counts of intimidation, and one count each of aggravated robbery and attempt to commit rape.

He faces up to 98 years in prison if convicted on all those charges. Under those charges, Williams allegedly kidnapped and sexually assaulted victims aged 15 and 17 on Nov. 19 and attempted an assault on a 21-year-old on Nov. 17. He was also charged with one count each of rape and kidnapping in an incident on Aug. 10.

Victims told police they were accosted at knifepoint or gunpoint and pulled into secluded areas, such as woods or alleys. The incidents were reported in the morning before schools opened or in the late afternoon. Williams was arrested Nov. 26 in the 600 block of Fassett Street in East Toledo after a chase.
