GREEN SPRINGS, Ohio — A 6-year-old boy was seriously injured Sunday when he was struck and dragged by a sport utility vehicle while riding a bicycle in the village, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

Tye Warwick, of Green Springs, was listed in serious condition in Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, a hospital spokesman said.

An SUV driven by Shayna Alloway, 19, of Green Springs, was exiting a drive-through convenience store onto northbound Broadway Street about 2:20 p.m. when the vehicle struck the bicyclist who was southbound on the sidewalk. The SUV continued northbound on Broadway, dragging the boy underneath for approximately 90 feet before stopping, troopers at the patrol’s Fremont post said.

Good Samaritans then lifted the vehicle off the boy and pulled him to safety, troopers said.

The incident remained under investigation.

Green Springs is in Sandusky and Seneca counties, about 45 miles southeast of Toledo.
