Investigators hope for break in Toledo murder cold case
4/21/2011Hoping to come up with new evidence, Toledo police have sent clothing and biological material from an old murder case to the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation for analysis.
Samone Anderson, 22, was five months pregnant when she was killed in the early hours of Oct. 6, 1990. Her partly clad body was found stretched out on the front porch of a vacant home at 1525 West Bancroft St.
She suffered several throat wounds from a sharp instrument and internal bleeding from being struck with a blunt object on the chest and abdomen, an autopsy by the Lucas County Coroner’s Office found.
Detective Bart Beavers, a cold case specialist, said he hoped for a break in the case.
“There’s a slew of suspects, but evidence doesn’t point to any one,” he said. “We have some DNA that could potentially lead to some evidence.”
