Hoping to turn up new evidence, Toledo police have sent clothing and biological material from an old murder case to the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation for analysis.

Samone Anderson, 22, was five months pregnant when she was killed in the early hours of Oct. 6, 1990. Her partly clad body was found stretched out on the front porch of a vacant home at 1525 West Bancroft Street.

She suffered several throat wounds from a sharp instrument and internal bleeding from being struck with a blunt object on the chest and abdomen, an autopsy by the Lucas County Coroner's Office found.

Detective Bart Beavers, a cold case specialist, said he hoped for a break in the case.

"There's a slew of suspects, but evidence doesn't point to anyone," he said. "We have some DNA that could potentially lead to some evidence."

Tamika Anderson was 5 years old when her mother was killed and has been in communication with police, urging them to pursue the cold case.

"I just want to get the bottom of this," she said.

After the body was found, neighbors of the Bancroft Street house told police they heard what seemed to be a man and a woman fighting about the time Samone Anderson was killed.

One man told investigators that such fights were so common, residents tended to ignore them.

Detective Beavers said Samone Anderson is believed to be one of four people seen together before the crime and there was reason to believe the killer was among that group.

Tamika Anderson said she hopes the new activity in the case generates tips even if the lab analysis yields no new evidence.
