A Toledo man was arrested and accused of shooting another man outside the victim’s north Toledo home early Monday after the two argued at a carryout store, authorities said.

Rockie Goodwin, 25, of 1205 Paxton St., was accused of shooting Alejhandro Reyna, 19, of Bush Street. The victim was taken to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center. The gunman was charged with felonious assault and booked into the Lucas County jail pending arraignment later Monday, Toledo police said.

The shooting occurred just after midnight in the 800 block of Bush, officers said.

Police responding to a report of a person shot arrived a minute later and found the victim suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

The victim told police that he had an argument with an acquaintance at a carryout nearby and that the same man approached him a short time later in the company of other men. The assailant then shot a gun in the air, pointed it at the victim, shot him twice, and calmly walked away with his companions, the victim told police, according to their written report.

Police searched the area and about 15 minutes later made the arrest. Two 45-caliber shell casings were recovered from the scene of the shooting, officers said.

The hospital did not release the victim’s condition Monday morning.
