An Iraqi war veteran’s home was broken into Monday morning while he, his wife, and their young son were asleep in their Longdale Avenue home.

Mike Cathers, 22, told police the family has an alarm system, but when someone broke in by prying a screen off of a window, the alarm — which might not have been on — didn’t sound, and the family’s dog didn’t bark.

Electronics, jewelry, and military uniforms and equipment were taken.

Anyone with information about the crime is asked to contact the Crime Stopper program. Callers may remain anonymous and could be eligible for a cash reward.
