Arrest made in robbery, assault of Monroe Township man, 75

MONROE — The man who allegedly robbed and assaulted a 75-year-old Monroe Township man is now behind bars.

William Miller III, 23, was arrested Thursday morning for the armed robbery of the man who lives at the Creekside Village Senior Apartments, 1450 South Monroe St., according to the Michigan State Police.

The victim told investigators that a man knocked on his door around 10:30 p.m. April 27, asking for help with the suspect’s child. The man robbed the victim of a small amount of money and held a box cutter to the victim’s throat, authorities said.

Mr. Miller is scheduled to be arraigned in the 1st District Court of Monroe on Thursday afternoon.
