Bond set for B.G. man accused in standoff

BOWLING GREEN -- Bond was set at $10,000 this week for a Plain Township man accused of barricading himself in his trailer with a handgun the night before in a two-hour standoff with Wood County sheriff deputies, authorities said.

Steven Lambert, 48, of 18330 Brim Rd. was arraigned in the Bowling Green Municipal Court on one charge of inducing panic. Court records indicate that at his hearing Wednesday, he requested a continuance to consult with an attorney. He was ordered held in the Wood County jail pending his next court appearance, which was set for May 11, according to court records.

About 5:50 p.m. Monday, sheriff deputies responded to a report of a man threatening to harm himself at the residence near Union Hill Cemetery, just north of the city, but upon their arrival were held at bay by the man, who refused to come out of the trailer. Negotiations ensued, upon which the man came out of the residence peacefully and was taken into custody without incident, according to Wood County Sheriff Mark Wasylyshyn.

A 9-mm handgun was recovered from the scene, Sheriff Wasylyshyn said.
