FREMONT — Police are searching for a robber who assaulted a clerk inside the Alltel Wireless store on West State Street Sunday.

Krystal Wammes, 28, told police the robber entered the store about 2:30 p.m. and asked about a prepaid plan. After she got him a brochure, he made a fist and struck her on the left side of the face, breaking her glasses. Police said the man took $345 from the register and $203 from her wallet.

Treated at the scene, Ms. Wammes, said she told the robber the store had no safe when he demanded to be taken to it, but he threatened to kill her.

The robber is described as a black male, 6 feet tall, average to stocky build, with short black hair with gray mixed in, and black glasses. He wore a tan suit, a cream-colored shirt, and an olive-colored tie, and left in an aqua or teal-colored car believed to be a two-door Oldsmobile Cutlass.
